Online store launch checklist: what to check before your first customer

Before you share your store link, go through five areas: products, store details, how orders reach customers, a full test order, and the store on a phone. Tick each item below once you’ve checked it in the live store. Anything you can’t tick yet is your to-do list before launch.

Products

  • Sample products are replaced with your own.

  • Names, prices and currency match your records.

  • Each product says what the customer gets: one item or a pack, size, material.

  • Photos show the products you actually sell.

  • Every category has products in it.

Store details

  • Store name, address, phone number and email are yours.

  • “About us” describes your business, in your words.

  • Every promise on the site, like delivery times or returns, is one you can keep.

  • Reviews and badges come from real customers and real certificates, or are removed.

  • Delivery, returns and payment information matches how your team works.

Getting orders to customers

Check each option you plan to offer:

If you offer

Check

Delivery

The areas you cover, the fees, and what happens when an address is outside your area

Pickup

Location name, address and opening hours, and how customers know their order is ready

Cash on delivery

Who collects the money, how it’s recorded, and that checkout clearly shows this option

Test order

  • Payments are set up.

  • A test order is placed for a real product, with the quantity changed at least once.

  • The total, delivery options and payment options are the ones you expect.

  • Any promo code you plan to advertise works at checkout.

  • The order arrived on your side with everything your team needs to fulfil it.

If a step looked fine on screen but you didn’t see the order arrive, don’t tick it yet.

On a phone

  • The live store opens and reads well on a phone, without zooming.

  • You can find a product, add it to the basket and complete checkout on the phone.

Before you share the link

  • The store is published, and you’ve checked it at its public address, not only in the editor.

  • If your store runs in more than one language, you’ve checked each version.
